Description

The Auditorium Supervisor is responsible for all aspects of operating the high school auditorium for school, district and community events. 

 

The successful candidate shall:

  • Remain knowledgeable regarding use of stage lighting, sound, audio-visual and production equipment
  • Solve production problems relating to scenery, sets, props, furniture, special effects, lighting, sound and seating.
  • Maintain inventories of supplies and equipment in an orderly manner.
  • Recommend proper maintenance and repair of equipment and facilities, including ordering of parts and services.
  • Assist in scheduling all auditorium use and tracking of facility use requests.
  • Remain available for on-call-as-needed basis.
  • Responsible for training student helpers and stage crew.
  • Assist in the selection and monitoring of student helpers and stage crew.
  • Maintain accurate student employment and pay records as required.
  • Ensure a safe environment in the theater for audiences, performers and staff.
  • Establish and post safety requirements necessary for the use of equipment in the theater.
  • Maintain stage, off stage storage, cat walk and scenery areas in a clean and orderly condition.
  • Move furniture and supplies as necessary.
  • Ensure proper preparation of all areas for performer and audience use.
  • Operate and maintain equipment as required, ensure its safe and proper use, protect the district equipment and supplies against pilferage, loss, theft or abuse.
  • Comply with and enforce all district safety and usage rules and regulations.
  • Determine applicable fees as it pertains to district facility use policy.
  • Support and coordinate activities with Columbia School District students and staff.
  • Work closely with other school district auditorium users.
  • Required to follow Board policy and stay abreast of updates/changes.
  • Communicate with staff, parents and community concerning auditorium procedures, rules and regulations, including management and enforcement of such procedures and regulations.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Physical and Environmental Requirements of the Position:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to bend, crawl, sit, move about, hear and speak. May be required to work in restricted spaces and/or under difficult lighting and access conditions. Noise levels could be high during performances.  The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 60 pounds, and be able to use appropriate support equipment to lift and move greater amounts.  Must have ability to climb up and down a ladder.  Employee is required to properly use such safety equipment as is appropriate to the work to prevent injury to self or others.
